The Great Tit, Parus major, is the largest European tit, at about 14cm long. The birds don't migrate and live primarily in woodlands, feeding on insects in the summer and switching to seeds and nuts in the fall and winter. They are commonly seen on bird feeders in the United Kingdom, as this one was - feeding in central London. They are popular garden birds, acrobatic in their feeding; they are found in mixed flocks with other birds, often with the Blue Tit.
